A Message from our CEO
It is a pleasure and a privilege to be the CEO at South Community Inc.
It is more important than ever to have an integrated healthcare and mental healthcare delivery system that seeks to coordinate the continuum of services available for the individuals we serve. Many of them also have severe chronic health issues and did not have primary care physicians. We are identifying their mental health, substance abuse and healthcare needs all at South Community.
We believe in the importance of whole person care and by embracing changes and focusing on integration and innovation, have moved South Community Inc. forward in this NEW AGE of an Integrated Delivery System. This integrated delivery system furthers our mission “… committed to improving the quality of life and the behavioral health status of children, adults and families residing in the Greater Miami Valley” and builds on our care coordination expertise. We are working tirelessly to offer effective and efficient quality care to those we serve.
At South Community Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, we are committed to providing effective, evidence-based integrated treatment for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Patient-centered “whole person” care means we must create a high quality experience at every point of contact, beginning with the search for treatment options, introduction to the agency’s services and progressing through treatment, coordinated care, discharge and after-care.
We strive to meet the needs and expectations of all of the individuals who come in contact with South Community Inc., whether they are patient, family or referral source. Yet, despite our best intentions, it is somewhat difficult to put ourselves in the place of the individuals we are treating and fully understand the recovery process from their perspective. We have a Consumer Advisory Council made up of some of the current individuals we serve to offer input and suggestions regarding our delivery of services. They, along with our staff input, help us strengthen program areas to be more successful and offer feedback for improvement. It is invaluable in helping us develop and refine our programs and services. This is what they are telling us: “One-stop shopping is most helpful where they medical doctor, psychiatrist, pharmacy and lab are all located together. They need job training and actual paying jobs and 34% of our population now have jobs thanks to our Supported Employment Program.
Recent study from the National Center of Children in Poverty found that 1 in 5 children suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder and 2/3 of those young people are not getting the help they need. South Community Inc. has increased our number of services to children, offering specialized treatment in partnership with local school districts to provide treatment at the schools and the Montgomery County Juvenile Courts. Partnerships in the community are very important to us in this effort.
Thank you for choosing South Community Inc.
