Since 1973, South Community Behavioral Health has been providing mental health services to the community. The Community of Compassion Legacy Society was established to help provide for the long-term financial stability of South Community. The Community of Compassion Legacy Society represents committed people that have seen the impact of South Community on the lives of many in our community. It is a reminder of South Community’s vision to excel in providing community-based mental healthcare services in such an effective manner that our consumers will be empowered to pursue an optimal quality of life.
South Community has created an Endowment Committee comprised of staff and community volunteers. Our Endowment Committee is involved in key decisions regarding how we share our community of compassion message.
The Community of Compassion Legacy Society is dedicated to furthering South Community’s long-term goal of providing programs and services for future generations through planned, charitable gifts. Gifts may be made in a variety of ways to help maximize your charitable benefits. A direct gift may be the most convenient way for you to make a contribution. Your donation will directly benefit our consumers.
SOUTH COMMUNITY CAN PROVIDE YOU AND/OR YOUR ADVISORS WITH MORE INFORMATION AS NEEDED FOR ANY OF THE BELOW DONATION OPTIONS
Gifts of long term capital gains assets (appreciated assets held more than one year) may save you taxes and maximize your gift. Each of the below listed giving options offer varied estate, gift, or income tax advantages that may increase the value of your estate and enable you to do more than you may have ever dreamed possible.
Bequest By Will
A bequest to South Community through a Will permits your family to retain the use of your assets or property during your lifetime. Bequests may be designated for a percent of your estate, a specified amount or the remaining property after all other obligations are fulfilled.
Life Insurance
When the added protection of an insurance policy is no longer needed, transferring the policy’s ownership to South Community can result in tax benefits for you and serve as a gift for South Community. South Community also can be included as a beneficiary, contingency beneficiary or owner of a new or existing policy.
Retirement Funds
You can designate South Community as the beneficiary or contingency beneficiary of your retirement plan assets. Since retirement plans are more heavily taxed than other estate assets, this can significantly reduce your estate tax liability and eliminate the income tax that would be payable by a beneficiary other than a charitable organization.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
A Charitable Remainder Trust can provide income to you or other individuals you designate for the beneficiary’s lifetime or for the trust’s term. Thereafter, the trust principal will go to the South Community Endowment Fund.
Charitable Lead Trust
A Charitable Lead Trust may be used to build South Community’s Endowment Fund over time while providing you with beneficial tax deductions. At the end of the trust’s term, the remaining assets are transferred to specified individuals or to you.
Charitable Gift Annuities
A Charitable Gift Annuity can be established through The Dayton Foundation by making a gift or cash or securities worth at least $10,000. The annuity guarantees a fixed stream of income for life for you and/or your other designated individuals and provides an immediate income tax deduction for the gift. Upon the death of the last beneficiary, any remaining amount will go the South Community’s Endowment Fund. 226-1444.
